The story

Krugersdorp High School: a Krugersdorp story since 1903

Krugersdorp High School opened on 24 April 1903 under its first headmistress, Miss Martin. The young school initially operated from a Baptist church and served only a small group of learners.

Its original school building was later destroyed by fire, but teaching resumed the following day. KHS now occupies its Monument campus and continues a tradition of academic, sporting and cultural education.

Established under Miss Martin in 1903, KHS grew from a handful of learners into one of the West Rand's best-known secondary schools. Its continuing presence forms part of the wider story of how Krugersdorp's churches, schools, workshops and family businesses adapted as the town changed around them.

No. The school did not begin on its present Monument campus. This detail matters because a long-running organisation may preserve its name and community role even when its buildings, ownership structure or services evolve.
