George 'Monty' Pratley launched the Pratley Manufacturing and Engineering Company in a rented Hillbrow garage in 1948. Its earliest work supported mines with repairs, fittings and specialist engineering.
The company acquired land in Factoria in 1955 and built the Krugersdorp factory that remains its head office. Pratley has since developed electrical products, adhesives and minerals technologies for markets around the world.
